An Icon of Creativity

“I wasn’t born to give you a twinset and pearls…”

 – Lee Alexander McQueen.

Season after season after season, runways around the world decorated with muses would take on spellbinding moments of fairy-tale themes and forms of escapism known as the collections of Lee Alexander McQueen.   Where art beautifully (and sometimes glaringly) meets fashion, Alexander McQueen was the real deal.  We, here at thehotreportonline.com, can’t recall a season when we weren’t asked to show an Alexander McQueen.   From the “Ode to Isabella Blow”, Spring 2008 to the “Girl Who Lived in a Tree,” Fall 2008 and the final metamorphosis, Spring 2010, Alexander McQueen’s incomparable collections for both men and women simply brought art to life.

While known for his breathtaking theatrical and transporting shows (Recycling and Reinvention, Fall 2009), Alexander McQueen remained an icon of creativity.  And although his imagination had no limits, he would also create a product that the consumer could embrace.  I must mention that the exclusive McQ Alexander McQueen for Target, was one of their most successful!  The mere mention of a McQueen pair of shoes, a dress, a coat, would most likely stir a room and raise a wandering brow?  Alexander McQueen designed imaginative collections for the expressive, the dramatic, the telling, the energetic!

These collections will be terribly missed.  These moments of theater and life…polished with animation and spirit will no longer move our runways.  Stories that only Alexander McQueen could retell will no longer be told.   We will keep these memories of his genius in our hearts.  We will miss him dearly.
